COACHES
When representing Essex Padel Association, coaches will:
• Show respect to others involved in the game including but not restricted to officials, opposing players, coaches and spectators.
• Adhere to the rules and spirit of the game.
• Be a positive role model at all times.
• Promote Fair Play and high standards of behaviour.
• Always respect the Officials decisions.
• Never engage in criticism of the officials.
• Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour.
When working with players coaches will:
• Place the well-being, safety and enjoyment of each player above everything, including winning.
• Create a safe, fun and fair environment.
• Not consume alcohol when responsible for players Under 18, and will not let players consume alcohol.
• Develop mutual trust and respect with every player to build their self-esteem.
• Encourage each player to accept responsibility for their own behaviour and performance.
• Be aware of and have a basic understanding of the Essex Padel Association safeguarding standards which are available on the Essex Padel Association website.
• To raise any Safeguarding issues or concerns to the Safeguarding Officer whose contact details can be found on the website.
PARENTS
• Remember padel is played for fun and enjoyment.
• Applaud effort and fair play as well as success.
• Always respect the referee’s or umpire’s decision.
• Contact the coach or official if they think the players have a line call or score issue and not get involved themselves.
• Stay off court and do not interfere in the match i.e. talk to or distract players.
• Show respect to other players, their parents and officials.
• Encourage players to respect their opposition, referee and umpires
• Avoid criticising a player for making a mistake.
• Never engage in or tolerate offensive, insulting or abusive language/behaviours.
• Be aware of and have a basic understanding of safeguarding standards which are available on the website.

PLAYERS
When representing Essex Padel Association, players will adhere to the highest standards of behaviour, attitude and respect both on and off court.
Players will:
• Always play to the best of their ability.
• Take responsibility for their actions.
• Play by the rules and play fairly.
• Respect their team, opponents, coaches, the officials and spectators.
• Call the score and lines fairly and let officials resolve any problems.
• Support the team at matches.
• Listen and respond to what the coach tells them.
• Always be on time for County practices, County matches.
• Wear team kit as directed by the team captain.
• Follow all guidelines including own room rules and sleeping times.
• Never enter an adult’s room if aged under 18.
• Not consume alcohol before/during county training/matches or on trips.
• Talk to someone they trust if unhappy about anything within the team.
